Let's imagine that you own two computers and you want to access one from the other. The problem is that one computer has Windows installed and the other has Linux. In order to connect to a Linux computer and run certain commands on it, you will need to use a special SSH client.

There are numerous such clients on the market, but few of them are as easy to use and as complete as SecureCRT. This Windows application allows you to connect to another computer or device using various protocols, like SSH, Telnet, Rlogin or Serial. After the application has been installed, the user is presented with the quick connect window, which allows him to quickly connect to any machine, just by typing the IP address or hostname and configuring some parameters regarding the connection, like the port, connection speed and so on.

After making all these settings, you will be able to connect to the machine and run various commands on it, as if you were sitting in front of it. SecureCRT can also connect to various serial devices, like data acquisition cards or sensors, using the serial port, and display data received from these devices in real-time.

A feature which makes SecureCRT different from other similar programs is the possibility of connecting using multiple protocols at the same time and switching between them using tabs.

By accessing the options section, the user will be able to configure each parameter of the session. Still, some options may be more difficult to understand by inexperienced computer users.

Pros

It supports several communication protocols, like SSH, Telnet, Rlogin or Serial. Besides that, it allows you to connect to several protocols at the same time. Furthermore, you can customize all the parameters for each session.

Cons

Some program options may be more difficult to use by beginners. SecureCRT allows you to easily connect to a remote computer using a large number of protocols.
